The Shakespearean Youth Theatre (SYT) formed in 2004 and is comprised of Twin Cities-area homeschooling or alternative schooling student-actors. SYT's mission is to provide an opportunity for students to study and perform Shakespeare, and our goal is to bring Shakespeare's language alive and make his stories relevant and accessible to our students and audience.
Midsummer is a funny, romantic play about transformation. Puck's line: "Lord, what fools these mortals be!" is the quintessential tag line. There are three character groups: the court (that includes the 4 young lovers), Bottom and the Mechanicals who put on Pyramus and Thisby, and the magical tempestuous fairy world led the battling Oberon and Titania. All three groups get tangled in the forest, and the world emerges changed by the experience.
