What is considered “Off Topic”?

HSAdventures is partnered with ECHO-MN, which is the place to go for homeschool support, discussion, and other resources, including the opportunity to buy and sell used homeschooling materials. Check out ECHO-MN’s website and join the discussion at the ECHO Yahoo Group.

All Off Topic posts should be approved by the Moderators before posting. You may contact the Moderators at hsadventures-owner AT yahoogroups.com

Examples of topics that will not be approved:

  • Requests to sign petitions
  • Announcements for political events - Homeschool Adventures does not promote events whose audience is members of a particular political party or political philosophy
  • Non-homeschool religious events -  Homeschool Adventures does not promote events whose audience is members of a single religion, however individual members of the HSAdventures Yahoo Group may post about religious homeschool events provided that they clearly identify the religious nature of the event.

Examples of topics that might be considered and might be denied:

  • Occasional advertisements (items for sale or to giveaway, promotions for a member’s business, etc). We do not forward these types of advertisements from non-members.
  • Occasional announcements about homeschool-related blogs or other online resources
  • Occasional announcements about evening or weekend classes. The more unique, unusual or interesting, the more likely they will be approved.
  • Occasional announcements about local evening or weekend events that might be of interest to homeschool families.
  • Rarely announcements about non-local events specifically for homeschoolers. Requests for repeat announcements on non-local events will most likely be denied (exceptions may be made for date changes, location changes, or for an event facing cancellation due to low registration numbers).

Please understand that our asking you to not send off topic posts to HSAdventures doesn’t mean that we don’t see value in those posts. Off topic posts can be very interesting and important, but HSAdventures is not the right place for them.

This list is only partially moderated, so if a “hot button” Off Topic post does get through, please don’t respond to it. While we value the respectful discussion of ideas, HSAdventures is not the right place for such debate. You may contact the moderators at hsadventures-owner [at] yahoogroups [dot] com if you wish to report a post as inappropriate.
