Coop size is set at a somewhat fluid limit of a maximum 20 children or a minimum of 7 adults.
Little Learners Homeschool Coop is a gathering of families. Our target age for activity planning is for children born between July 2002 and June 2005 (currently ages 6-1/2 years to 9-1/2 years). Both younger and older siblings are welcome to both attend and participate and will not be viewed as either disruptive or interlopers.
Given our small size, we depend on regular attendance by our member families, and parental involvement is essential to our success. Parents remain with their children to assist them and also serve either as activity facilitators or as assistants to the activities' facilitators. Everyone helps with setting up activities and with cleaning up the church when we are finished.
We are a secular, inclusive support group committed to fulfilling our mission without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, handicap, familial status, or national origin. We sometimes have secular holiday celebrations and/or explorations, such as for Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day, Halloween, etc.) We are a very diverse community, but we do share some common values, in particular the use of positive discipline at our gatherings.
The best way to find out about us is to visit for an afternoon. Please see the contact information below to arrange a visit.
When do you meet? Little Learners Homeschool Coop meets every Monday afternoon throughout the year. Our weekly gatherings officially start at 1pm. We end our activities at 4pm (or whenever we're done). During the winter (October–May), we meet at Grace Center for Community Life in northeast Minneapolis. For the summer months (June-September), Little Learners Homeschool Coop meets at area parks and playgrounds.
Costs: $50/semester per family for rent or $100/year (October–May) per family which works out to about $3 per family per week. Responsibility for bringing food for the shared meal rotates weekly. Families also contribute sundry supplies as needed.
