Homeschool Events and Classes

Airport Bowl
Airport Bowl in Richfield has open bowling for homeschooling families every Tuesday. The lanes are available from 1pm - 5pm.  The cost is $1.60 per game; there is no cost for shoe rental. It is a non-smoking bowling alley.

Ballare Teatro
Ballare Teatro Performing Arts Center is pleased to offer classes to Homeschool students during the day. This is a recreational program that runs in 11-week sessions, fall, winter and spring.  All teaching is provided by our talented staff of degreed, professional instructors.

Buck Hill
Homeschool Ski Days throughout winter.

Bunker Park Stable
Horse Course for homeschoolers is designed to introduce students ages 7 and up to the wonderful world of horses. Classes are offered in the spring and fall.

The Children’s Theatre Company
Theatre Arts Training at CTC can change your child’s life by nurturing in them the ability and desire to think critically and objectively, work collaboratively, build self-confidence, and become assertive and active members of society. The homeschool classes are included with all the other classes, organized by grade level. Look next to the date and time listing of each class to find the ones marked “homeschool.”

Circus Xelias
Xelias Aerial Arts homeschool classes (for ages 5-17) include stretching, strength conditioning, and aerial skills. Beginning on trapeze students learn a progression of skills. As students progress other aerial apparatus are introduced such as the rope - called Spanish Web and then to more advanced lyra and aerial fabric are introduced.

Como Zoo and Conservatory
Como Park Zoo hosts creative, hands-on classes designed especially for homeschool students (ages 5-15). During each class, students will explore the natural world with art projects, plant and animal visitors, scavenger hunts and more. A variety of age appropriate activities are incorporated into each program. There's something for everyone!

Dancin’ Feet Dance School
All home school classes are offered from September-Early May. Classes may be taken as the full program or in 4 week sessions (the full program includes dances to be done in the spring show).

Dodge Nature Center
Dodge Nature Center is offering regular programming designed specifically for home school students age 5 and up. Home school children and their families are invited out to the nature center on specified Thursdays throughout the school year to explore a variety of natural phenomena.

Eagan Art House Homeschool Classes
Offers art classes for homeschoolers. The teachers are experienced instructors and professional artists committed to providing you with a positive art experience, open up your creativity and teach you new ways to see your world.

Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary
This spring, Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary invites homeschool families to join naturalists every second Tuesday of the month for a nature themed lesson! Each month will offer a different topic geared toward students ages 6 to 12 (or grades Kindergarten to 6th).

Foss Swim School
Our highly qualified and lifeguard certified FOSS instructor will lead the kids through a series of 4 skill sets mixed in with games during a 45 minute class. Underwater swimming, kicking, safety float and sculling are all skills that swimmers will learn.

Gleason’s Gymnastic School
Gleason’s is trying something new this session and having open gym in lieu of instructional classes. The children will be supervised, by qualified teachers. Gleason’s has a full competitive gym with a spring floor, bars, rings, vaulted horse, climbing rope, double mini trampoline, full size trampolines, etc. No previous experience is required. There is a special area for preschool. Parents may stay in the waiting area if they like or may drop off and pick up. $5 per student.

In the Company of Kids
Creative Arts Center in Burnsville, offering Acting Adventures for homeschoolers. Kids learn acting, singing, dancing, puppetry, improv and more in a fun program that will be sure to capture and nurture your child's creativity. They also offer a class for special needs children.

Minnesota Historical Society
Programs designed specifically for homeschool groups at historic sites and museums around the state.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Want to get hands-on plant science into your home-school curriculum? Consider an Arboretum learning experience. For individuals or homeschool groups the Arboretum offers hands-on plant experiences that address state science standards in a unique and engaging educational setting.

Minnesota Zoo
Come spend a day at the Minnesota Zoo. We have set aside October 6th for home school students to visit the zoo and learn more about wildlife and wild places here in Minnesota!

Pump It Up Homeschool Open Time
3rd Tuesday of every month (may not be available during spring break, summer vacations or other holiday's). Reserved for only families that belong to a Homeschool group or network. Parents must stay. Come on in and jump, bounce, slide and just have fun!

Rapids Lake Education and Visitor Center
Rapids Lake Education and Visitor Center, located 3 miles south of Carver, MN off of County Road 45, is part of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge's Rapids Lake Unit. They offer monthly classes for homeschoolers.

Rum River Art Center
Rum River Art Center teaches the drawing skills children need while developing learning skills that give children an academic advantage. They offer drawing and painting classes, each running six weeks. Class size is small, with a maximum of seven kids per class.

The Science Museum of Minnesota
The Science Museum of Minnesota has exciting homeschool classes available for families looking to supplement their science curriculum, explore physics, biology, engineering and more with our specialized equipment and expert teachers, and network with other homeschooling families.

The Shakespearean Youth Theatre (SYT)
SYT is comprised of homeschooling or alternative schooling student-actors. Beginning in the fall, the class produces a play by working with the director in a collaborative process that creates a unique interpretation of the play.

Stages Theater Homeschool Day
Students attend hands-on workshops while educators are provided with resources and instruction for curriculum development. After a break and snack provided by Stages Theatre Company, you'll attend a performance. Finally, participate in a talkback with the cast of the show.

Tamarack Nature Center
These exciting, hands-on classes are offered three times in the school year. Each class focuses on a different natural history topic, and may include games, art and literature, in addition to outdoor hikes and scientific explorations. Parent may attend with their child at no charge.

Three Rivers Parks
For nature-based programming with learning opportunities from history to habitat, bring your home-school group to Three Rivers Parks. We offer programs designed for students age 3 and older that let students get up close to the land for a unique and memorable hands-on experience.

Turning Pointe Dance Studio
We will be offering dance classes for home school students of all ages and skill at our studio Monday through Friday from 10am-3pm. Ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, musical theater and more. 1-1.5 hour long classes.

Vertical Endeavors
Vertical Endeavors is offering Homeschool Days to homeschool students and families! Indoor rock climbing is a great way to introduce your students to a unique experience in a controlled, professional environment.

Wargo Nature Center
This year's home school programs, as always, will use hands-on activities as the children learn about the natural environment. There is also room for self-expression and self-discovery about nature with the guidance of Wargo staff members.  Classes available for younger children (grades 1-5) and older children (grades 6-12).

Welch Village
Homeschool Ski Days throughout winter.

Westwood Hills Nature Center
Each month, home schooled children (grades K-6) and their parents join a naturalist for fun, hands-on nature activities focusing on nature, science and outdoor recreation topics.

Wood Lake Nature Center
Two once-a-month classes for families who want to attend Wood Lake's classes but do not have a large enough group to schedule their own class. The class will typically take place on the third Thursday and Friday of every month (September through May).

The Works Technology Museum
The Works exhibit gallery and educational programs provide unique resources for homeschooling families.  Attend our monthly Homeschool Day to explore The Works in the company of our homeschooling families).  Families explore The Works museum and participate in a special hands-on activity led by an experienced educator.
