When your tour group arrives you will be greeted and accompanied to our outdoor covered "theatre" where an experienced guide will give an entertaining and informative presentation designed especially for your age group. Students will learn a brief history of the orchard and what it takes to grow apple trees. They will also learn how to properly pick an apple and talk about all the yummy things one can make with apples. Then the children will board our tractor pulled hay wagon, have a tour of the orchard and ride to the top of the hill where they will enjoy a snack. (specific snack depends on what tour they choose) Now it is "parent time" where visitors will have an opportunity to shop in our wonderful Apple Barn stocked with lots of homemade goodies, aromatic candles and of course our fabulous apples.
Next will be a brief stroll down to the lower orchard play area where there are modern restrooms, picnic tables, petting barn, corn crib fort, giant wooden train, hay mountain and corn maze (corn maze available in October).
This is a field trip that your child will always remember and if you are lucky they will take you back here on the weekends so the whole family will be able to enjoy the experience of Minnetonka Orchards!!
Types of Tours:
- Basic Apple: This is our basic tour as described above with a snack of one of our yummy apples. The cost is $5.00 per person.
- Deluxe Apple Tour: This is our basic tour plus kids will get tour our apple grading barn and see how apples are graded. Snack will include: an apple, fresh apple cider, and one of our famous apple donuts. The cost is $6.00 per person.
- Apple U-Pick: This is always a fun tour that we started last year, same tour as the deluxe apple tour above only each child will get to pick an apple to take home as well as have one for a snack along with the donut and cider. The cost is $8 per person.
- Pumpkin Tour: Same as the deluxe apple tour along with the being able to take home a kid size friendly pumpkin. The cost is $7.00 per person.
