School Programs
Preschool and Kindergarten
Our youngest visitors are introduced to agriculture and farm life in the 19th century. The activities help students learn such basic concepts as farm work, where food comes from, and why animals live on a farm.
1st and 2nd Grades
Early elementary students experience the work roles of each family member. Using a variety of chores, students learn how each family member contributed to the general welfare of the family and the success of the farm.
3rd and 4th Grades
Upper-elementary students learn the integral role of farm animals in early Minnesota agriculture. Student activities focus on farm animals providing work, food and byproducts.
5th and 6th Grades
Students explore the dramatic changes taking place in mid-19th century agriculture. Through hands on activities students learn how the transition from subsistence to market farming brought farmers together to form organizations like the Grange.
Home School Students
Home school groups learn about historic methods of food production and preservation, farming methods, and the care and use of livestock and draft animals. This program stresses Minnesota's agricultural traditions with activities designed for all ages of home school students.
