Dam tours can be scheduled for the Upper Saint Anthony Falls Visitor Center in downtown Minneapolis. The Visitor Center, which sits atop the central control station, offers a fantastic view of the falls and the lock itself.
The Visitor Center at Upper Saint Anthony Falls offers daily dam tours May 1 to Oct. 1. Tours are offered year round, but are subject to availability Oct. 2 to April 30. Tours generally run from 30 minutes to one hour and are free of charge.
The tour information will consist of the history of Upper St. Anthony Falls, Navigation on the Mississippi and the operation of the lock structure.
To Schedule a Tour
Please email dam [dot] tours [at] usace [dot] army [dot] mil or call (877) 552-1416 and provide the following information to schedule your tour: your group name, your point of contact and how to reach them, the size and age of your group, and the date and time you would like a tour. We will do our best to accommodate all tours, but the number of tours and available dates may be limited.
If you prefer not to schedule a tour, walk up tours are offered most Thursdays - Mondays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. from May 1 to Oct. 1. Check the tour sign at the Visitor Center entrance for tour times.
